Karen was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She earned a Bachelor in Science, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus. Karen continued her education at The Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico, School of Law, and earned a Juris Doctor, Magna Cum Laude. Following the bar exam in 2005, she began practicing law in Puerto Rico, gaining wide-ranging legal experience until 2009, when she moved to El Paso following her husband's military attorney career.

In 2010, Karen passed the Texas bar exam and began practicing Probate and Estate Law for two law firms in El Paso until she decided to open Karen Colon Law, PLLC. Since then, Karen has represented hundreds of clients with probate, guardianship, and estate planning issues. Karen is also a certified Guardian ad Litem. As part of her commitment to the community, she actively pursues guardianships for indigent persons.

When not in her office, Karen is at home spending time with her husband, her three teenage children (yes, three and triplets!), and an energetic rescue dog.

Karen has been allowed to work with incredible Attorneys and amazing Clients since her arrival to El Paso 12 years ago. Walking with clients through their major life events, good and bad, is not something she would trade for the world. Karen has made it her priority to add a personal, pleasant touch to the Client experience, and we hope that our Clients can feel how much she cares.
